Travis Russell has more than 25 years experience in the telecommunications industry.
His experience as a field engineer and later as instructor and consultant covers multiple
disciplines including switching, signaling, and data networking. He currently has nu-
merous patents pending for solutions and technologies that encompass signaling as well
as OSS/BSS. He is the author of Telecommunications Protocols, The Telecommunications
Pocket Reference, and Signaling System #7 (currently in its 5th Edition) and co-author
of Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD).
Mr. Russell is a frequent speaker at colleges and universities, as well as industry confer-
ences and trade shows around the world. He is currently a senior manager with Tekelec,
the leading developer of switching and signaling telecommunications solutions.
3.翻译本书的目的：
当然第一个是为自我学习所用，这本书算是这个行业中比较新的一本书了，IMS Handbook出版于2009年，其实更加新，但是感觉像手册一样的东西，翻译起来实在太抑郁。第二个是处于对中国IMS研究中一直没有一本像样的著作而补充一些自己的力气。
4.翻译计划：
本书的有效页数（即不含目录和附录文献）大概为200页左右，鉴于本人的时间和能力所限，争取一天翻译5页左右，在九月初翻译完毕初稿。翻译文稿将以自然段为分割，中英文对照。
5.共享计划：
翻译完毕后将整理成PDF供众多IMS学习者参阅并开放电子邮箱接受各方建议意见和批评，只有交流才有进步。本书暂无出版计划，但是翻译文字的版权归本人所有，请读者切勿用于除学习交流外的商业及学术出版用途。
