Obaidat, Monmouth University, USA Talk Title: Key Enabling ICT Systems for Smart Homes andCities: The Opportunities and Challenges Professor Mohammad S.Obaidat (Fellow of IEEE and Fellow of SCS) is an internationally well-known academic/researcher/scientist. He received his Ph.D. and M. S. degrees in Computer Engineering witha minor in Computer Science from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio,USA. Dr. Obaidat is currently a full Professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Monmouth University, NJ, USA. Among his previous positions are Advisor to the President of Philadelphia University, President of the Society for Modeling and Simulation International, SCS, Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Director of the Graduate Program at Monmouth University and a faculty member at the City University of New York. He has received extensive research funding and has published about Thirty (30) books and over Six Hundreds (600) refereed technical articles in scholarly international journals and proceedings of international conferences. Professor Obaidat has servedas a consultant for several corporations and organizations worldwide. Mohammadis the Editor-in-Chief of 3 scholarly international journals. He is also an editor, advisory editor of numerous journals and transactions. His research interests are: wireless communications and networks,telecommunications and Networking systems, security of network, information and computer systems, security of e-based systems, performance evaluation of computer systems, algorithms and networks, green ICT, smart homes and cities,high performance and parallel computing/computers, applied neural networks andpattern recognition, adaptive learningand speech processing. Prof. Obaidat is a Fellow of the Society for Modelingand Simulation International SCS, and a Fellow of the Institute of Electricaland Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Prof. Hikmet Sari, SUPELEC, France Talk Title : Multiple Access and Power Efficiency in Wireless Communications Professor Hikmet Sari is the Head of the Telecommunications Department at SUPELEC, France,and Chief Scientist of Sequans Communications. Previously, he held research and management positions at Philips, SAT, Alcatel, Pacific BroadbandCommunications, and Juniper Networks. He received his Engineering Diploma andPh.D. from the ENST, Paris, France, and the Habilitation degree from the University of Paris-Sud, Orsay. Dr. Sari has servedas an Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Communications, Guest Editor of theEuropean Transactions on Telecommunications, Guest Editor of IEEE JSAC,Associate Editor of the IEEE Communications Letters, Chair of the CommunicationTheory Symposium of ICC 2002, Technical Program Chair of ICC 2004, Vice GeneralChair of ICC 2006, General Chair of PIMRC 2010, General Chair of WCNC 2012,Chair of the GITC in 2010 – 2011, Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Communications Society (2001 - 2006), Member of the IEEE Fellow Evaluation Committee (2002 - 2007), and Member of the Awards Committee (2005 – 2007) of this society. He is currently serving as Executive Chair of WCNC 2014,Executive Vice-Chair of ICC 2016, Executive Chair of ICC 2017, and Vice-President – Conferences of the IEEE Communications Society for 2014 –2015. His distinctions include the IEEE Fellow Grade and the Andre Blondel Medal in 1995, the Edwin H.Armstrong Award in 2003, the Harold Sobol Award in 2012, and election to the European Academy and to the Science Academy of Turkey in 2012. Prof.Nirwan Ansari, New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA Talk Title :Making the Access Network Green Professor Nirwan Ansari received BSEE (summa cum laude with a perfect GPA) from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), MSEE from the University of Michigan, AnnArbor, and PhD from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. He is Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NJIT. He has also assumedvarious administrative positions at NJIT. He has been Visiting (Chair)Professor at several universities. Prof. Ansari authored Media Access Control and Resource Allocation (Springer, 2013) with J. Zhang and Computational Intelligence for Optimization (Springer, 1997) with E.S.H. Hou, and edited Neural Networks in Telecommunications (Springer, 1994) with B.Yuhas. He has also contributed over 450 technical papers, over one third of which were published in widely cited refereed journals/magazines. He hasguest-edited a number of special issues, covering various emerging topics incommunications and networking. His current research focuses on various aspectsof broadband networks and multimedia communications. Prof. Ansari has served on the Editorial Board and Advisory Board of nine journals. He waselected to serve in the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Board of Governorsas a member-at-large (2013-2015). He has chaired ComSoc technical committees,and has been actively organizing numerous IEEE International Conferences/Symposia/Workshops, assuming various leadership roles. Some of his recognitions include IEEE Fellow (Class of 2009), several Excellence in Teaching Awards, a couple of best paper awards, NCE Excellence in ResearchAward (2014), ComSoc AHSN TC Outstanding Service Recognition Award (2013), NJ Inventors Hall of Fame Inventor of the Year Award (2012), Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award (2010), and designation as an IEEE Communications SocietyDistinguished Lecturer (2006-2009, two terms).
