Inviting Chinese PhD students, post-doc fellows and visiting scholars through CSC-Tampere University Scholarship Programme Tampere University is proud to launch a new joint scholarship programme CSC Tampere University scholarship programme together with China Scholarship Council. The China Scholarship Council operates under the Chinese Ministry of Education providing funding for Chinese nationals to study and conduct research abroad and foreign students and scholars to study in China. The new joint scholarship programme strengthens the longstanding engagement of the University with China and provides an important funding instrument for deepening relations with Chinese partner institutions. It also plays an essential role in attracting Chinese PhD students to our campuses and eventually increasing the number of Chinese students at Tampere University. Tampere University (Tampere University of Technology) is the leading EU university in information technology, signal processing, computer science and AI. The deadline for applications to the joint scholarship programme is 31 March for the Chinese applicants. The applicants should have received a definite offer letter from Tampere University when submitting the application to CSC. A letter of acceptance from a doctoral programme is required from the PhD candidates and an invitation letter from postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars. The joint programme allows for ten Chinese PhD students to start and complete a full PhD programme with CSC funding at Tampere University annually. o Up to 10 PhD position available. For PhD students to funding is up to 48 months in total. o Funding is also allocated to 3 visiting researchers and 7 visiting post-doctoral fellows from China to Tampere University. The funding is provided for 6 – 24 months for post-doctoral fellows and for visiting scholars for 3 – 12 months. Applicants interested in applying for doctoral programs with a continuous application process are requested to approach potential supervisors as soon as possible to initiate the application process. Applicants are eligible to apply to the joint scholarship pool if they are still in their first year of PhD studies. For candidates not yet admitted to any program, instructions for applying for PhD studies. Please indicate clearly that you intend to apply for funding from the CSC Tampere University Scholarship Programme, by stating this in your research plan and by enclosing a document regarding this to the online application form. Generally, eligible criteria for applicants applying postdoctoral research fellows are as follows: - the candidate should not be older than 40 years old when applying - the candidate should work as an employee at a higher education institution/scientific research institutions in China and must have earned a PhD. degree before applying - not more than 3 years have passed after the award of the PhD Eligibility criteria for applicants applying as visiting scholars are as follows: - the candidate should not be older than 50 years old when applying - the candidate should work as an employee at a higher education institution/scientific research institutions/administrative organizations in China and must have earned a Bachelor's degree before applying Any further issues, Please contact uceebta@ucl.ac.uk
