Bennett Prize, Editors in Many Transactions）主持人：彭木根教授时间：2013年10月22日(周二)上午10：00-12：00 地点：教三楼337 该报告为前沿讲座，同时介绍新加坡科技设计大学招生计划和政策，欢迎有兴趣的师生踊跃参与。内容： Future cellular networks are expected to change the nature and structure of the broadband industry, notably in terms of network infrastructure, services, operations, maintenance, and business models. As a result, it can catalyze the creation of a wide range of innovative services and applications for end-users in homes, offices, factories, public spaces, and schools. However, it is extremely challenging to meet the massive growth of mobile traffic with affordable and sustainable network operation cost and energy consumption. One possible solution is to density the network by cell-size shrinking, such as the deployment of small cells, which comes at the cost of additional energy usage and increased interference. In this talk, we will discuss the role of small cell networks, the technical challenges associated to such densification, and give an overview of our recent results related to small cell networks. We conclude by discussing some future work and possible work of extension. 新加坡科技设计大学（Singapore University of Technology and Design，简称SUTD）与麻省理工学院（MIT）联合办学，旨在培养拥有扎实的科技知识和素养的领导者和创新者，以满足社会需求。培养过程包含综合的多学科课程和多学科研究，其中以设计为侧重点。除MIT之外，SUTD与浙江大学（ZJU）也在教育和研究等领域有着广泛的合作。在这个讲座中，我们将从总体上对SUTD进行介绍，同时为北京邮电大学的学生们和教师们介绍“SUTD-PhD计划，访问学生，科研合作”等深造或合作机会。最后，我们将对SUTD信息系统技术与设计中心和我自己的研究团队进行介绍。主讲人简介： Tony Q.S. Quek 分别于1998年和2000年在日本东京的东京理工学院获得B.E.和M.E.学位。2008年2月，他在麻省理工学院（MIT）获得电气工程与计算机科学博士学位。目前，他在新加坡科技设计大学担任助理教授。他目前的研究兴趣包括协作网络，干扰网络，异构网络，智能电网，绿色通信，无线安全，定位，压缩感知，以及认知无线电等。 Dr. Quek在一系列国际会议上积极地担当组织、分会主持以及技术程序委员会委员等职务。他是IEEE WCSP 2013会议的通信理论讨论组的联合主席。他目前是IEEE Transactions on Communications和IEEE Wireless Communications Letters的编辑。他曾于2010年获得IEEE国际电信会议（Globecom）最佳论文奖，并于2012年获得通信网络领域的William R. Bennett奖。
