学术报告通知应校科技处、北邮-高通联合实验室的邀请，美国圣地牙哥加州大学教授、美国高通公司副总裁Jack Wolf将访问我校并做学术报告。报告题目：Information Theory and Coding for Two New Storage Systems 主讲人：Jack Wolf 主持人：杨大成时间：2010年10月18日 15：30-16：30 地点：教三楼235教室报告内容简介： Patterned media is one approach being pursued to extend the lifetime of magnetic hard disk systems. In conventional hard disk systems, the write process is thought to be error-free. This is not the case in patterned media and in the first part of this talk; an information theoretic model is introduced to model the write errors. This model then is used to estimate the rate of an error-correcting code required to correct these errors. The second half of the talk is concerned with a coding scheme that allows one to rewrite pages in a flash memory system without erasing. 主讲人简介： Jack wolf： UCSD professor VP Technology, Qualcomm.
