-BUPT Joint Research and Postgraduate Workshop

Over the last decade, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) have had a successful collaboration in teaching and research. The Joint dual bachelor degree Programmes (JP) launched in 2004 pioneered the sino-UK joint education venture and has been highly commended by the Chinese Ministry of Education (MoE) and UK Institute of Engineering (IET). In its eighth year of operation, JP has over 2,000 students on board with the addition of a new programme on Internet of Things started in 2011. The graduates from JP has high successful admission rate to pursue their masters and PhD degrees in highly ranked universities around the world such as University of Cambridge, Stanford University, University College London, and some have lucrative careers at China Mobile, China Unicom, IBM, Huawei and ZTE.
Based on the success of JP, the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) has funded QMUL with a Global Engagement Project (EP/K004484/1) to extend the current collaboration and particularly, to enhance joint research activities including exploration of a dual degree Joint PhD programme.
The workshop provides a platform that bringing together academics from both institutions on the state-of-the-art research topics and technologies, fostering high quality of research activities introduce up-to-date and interdisciplinary subjects. It consists of technical presentations from academics of BUPT and QMUL on the key research challenges of Wireless Networks & Communications, Future Network Infrastructure & Technologies, Internet Measurements & Content Delivery and Multimedia Sensor Networks.
The workshop will be held in conjunction with a talk and exhibition of MSc programmes in School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, QMUL.
Call for posters:
This workshop consists of a poster competition event. All JP and BUPT students are eligible to submit technical posters to this workshop and the authors of selected posters must to present their posters in this workshop. THREE best student posters will be awarded prizes in this workshop. The topics of interest for posters include, but not limited to:
Wireless networks and communications
Future network infrastructure and technologies
Internet measurements & Content delivery
Multimedia sensor networks
Please email your posters with a two-page extended abstract to phdwkshp@qmbupt.org with the email subject as "workshop poster submission". Posters will be reviewed based on an initial submission of poster and the two-page abstract. Poster submissions must be in English. Please be aware that the poster draft is mandatory. All submitted materials must be in PDF format with embedded fonts. The two-page abstracts must be formatted using the IEEE Computer Society format described at http://www.cs.sfu.ca/~vis/Templates/word_conf_vgtc_12.zip
