返回信息流The School of Information Systems (SIS) at Singapore Management University (SMU) is the home of top-notch faculty, talented students and researchers who are enthusiastic to pursue first-rate, innovative academic research and publication while at the same time engaging in new initiatives that are problem driven and can be applied to national, regional and global needs. SIS/SMU provides a highly collaborative and supportive environment as well as generous support for conducting high quality world-class research. The Social NLP group led by Prof. Wei Gao (https://sites.google.com/site/iswgao/) in SIS/SMU is pleased to invite applications for several PhD and two Research Assistant (RA) positions. Candidates will be conducting cutting-edge research to solve challenging Natural Language Processing and cross-area problems people daily face in our web and social spheres spanning different platforms, sources and languages.
Areas of Interest
Current research topics in Social NLP group include but are not limited to:
Natural language interaction
Social network analysis and mining
Sentiment and stance analysis
Multimodal NLP
Rumor/fake news detection and fact checking
Eligibility
Local and international students or graduates
Graduates with outstanding Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
Excellent skills in mathematical modeling and programming (e.g., Python, C/C++, R)
Excellent verbal communication skills in written and spoken English

Application Procedure
PhD application for the admission year 2020-2021 Term 1 intake (August 2020) will end on 31 January 2020. Online application can be made via the following link:

Application for Research Assistant should be made directly by contacting Prof. Gao (wgao.qcri@gmail.com). The appointments can start as early as 1 January 2020 and are independent of the PhD programme. The positions remain open until they are filled.
