A research assistant position is available at Prof. Yuze (Alice) Sun’s group in the Electrical Engineering department at the University of Texas at Arlington. We are seeking motivated students who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. degree in broad areas of photonics, biomedical engineering, and bio/chemical sensing. The desirable candidate should have a strong background in optics, microfluidics, or microfabrication. However, students with various backgrounds from EE, BME, ME and Physics are welcome to apply. Students with interdisciplinary background or research experience are preferred.
The Sun Lab aims to develop novel sensing technologies and integrated devices and microsystems to innovate the field of biomedical sensing and diagnostics, chemical sensing, and environmental sustainability. Our current research focuses include: (1) Development of bioinspired optofluidic devices for ultrasensitive biological and chemical sensing; (2) Gas sensing/micro-gas chromatography and wearable devices for healthcare and biomedical diagnostics; (3) Novel optofluidic microlasers; and (4) Microfluidics/nanofluidics devices and technologies.
