The research areas include statistical signal processing, machine learning, information theory, and their applications to neuroscience and computational biology. The candidate must have B.E./B.Sc. or M.S. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related field. Brief bio of Prof. Yu Xiang: He is currently an Assistant Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering, at University of Utah,. He was a postdoctoral fellow in Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University, hosted by Prof. Vahid Tarokh, for three years. Prior to that, he obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of California, San Diego in 2015, under the supervision of Prof. Young-Han Kim. He received his B.Sc. with highest distinction from the School of Telecommunication Engineering at Xidian University, Xi'an, China, in 2008. The rankings of some related graduate programs are Computer Science 43, Bioengineering 38, Mathematics 34, Medical Research 41. As the host city of the 2002 Winter Olympics, Salt Lake City is a vibrant city and is ranked as one of the best places to live in US according to USNEWS, because of its safety, beautiful scenery, abundant tech companies, etc. The city is home for numerous musical and theater venues, as well as sports teams including the Utah Jazz. It is close to various national parks such as the Yellowstone National Park.
