For more information, visit www.newsbreak.com/about About the Role We’re seeking a highly motivated, talented, and engaged product designer. They work across every stage of product development, from defining the vision for new features to the craft and finish of every detail in the product. We appreciate designers who think deeply, speak clearly, and love collaborating across roles. As the Senior Product Designer, you will be responsible for leading the definition, design and delivery of our core NewsBreak app experiences. You will be driving the strategy to make local news and information accessible, and encourage user participation to help connect local communities of people, content creators and businesses around the country, turning a normally “read-only” experience into one that is highly engaging and interactive. Responsibilities o Working iteratively and collaboratively with product, design, research and engineering partners to solve problems and create useful, usable and delightful product features. o Bringing a user-centered perspective to conversations in order to add value to the product via a design lens. o Create high-fidelity designs with strong visual design skills. Ensuring a cohesive and consistent design language across all touch points. o Contributing to NewsBreak’s design system in order to improve the craft, scalability, and accessibility of the product. o Advocate for the user and champion a user-centered design approach throughout the organization. Requirements o 5+ years of experience in product design, with a focus on digital products and services o A strong portfolio that showcases your visual design skills and user-centered design approach o Great communication skills. You present design decisions and processes clearly and confidently, making an impact with cross-functional team members. o A growth mindset. You’re open and receptive to feedback and can adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. o Demonstrate empathy for the people who use the things they design. o Demonstrated craft, quality and creativity in their work. o Experience with prototyping as a means to explore and communicate design solutions. o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
