You have been placed in charge of ICT implementation for the brand new Mars space colony. There are a lot of people, but unfortunately your budget, infrastructure, and knowledge capital are extremely limited since all the colonists came from debtors’ prisons back on Earth. What sort of ICTs are of immediate and practical economic use to your constituents?

Take a look at the World Bank ICTs-related indicators at http://data.worldbank.org/topic/infrastructure
Choose two countries (one developing country and one industrial country) to study in depth. As you compare the countries, name two surprising facts you learned about the economics of ICTs in these countries.
Possible points to consider:
o What did you learn about affordability of ICTs?
o What percentage of the population uses the Internet/cellphones?
o Is the cost of ICTs sustainable, considering the country’s GNI?
o Does the country export any ICT goods? If so, what percentage is this of their total goods exports?
