学术讲座:Wireless MIMO Channel Modeling 时间:2007年4月10日(星期二)下午2:00--3:00 地点:校办501报告厅 主讲人:英国赫瑞瓦特大学 王承祥博士 语言:英语 Title: Wireless MIMO Channel Modeling: Background, Comparison and Some Progress Abstract: By deploying spatially separated multiple antenna elements at both the transmitter and receiver, multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technologies can improve the link reliability and provide a significant increase of the link capacity. An appropriate characterization and modeling of MIMO propagation channels are indispensable for the development of 3G and beyond 3G wireless communication systems. This presentation starts with the review of MIMO channel models and then concentrates on the comparison of the spatial temporal correlation properties of the 3GPP Spatial Channel Model (SCM) and the Kronecker MIMO Channel Model. Despite of its simplicity and analytical tractability, the Kronecker model is restricted to characterize only the average spatial temporal behavior of MIMO channels. The SCM provides more insights of the variations of different MIMO channel realizations but the implementation complexity is relatively high. Biography: Cheng-Xiang Wang received the BSc and MEng degrees in communication and information systems from Shandong University, Shandong, P. R. China, in 1997 and 2000, respectively, and the PhD degree in wireless communications from Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark, in 2004. From 2000 to 2001, he was a Research Assistant with the Department of Communication Networks, Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg, Hamburg, Germany. From 2001 to 2005, he was a Research Fellow of mobile communications with Agder University College, Grimstad, Norway. From January to April 2004, he was a Visiting Researcher at Baseband Algorithms & Standardization Lab of Siemens AG-Mobile Phones, Munich, Germany. Since 2005, he has been a Lecturer in Mobile Communications and Networks, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. Since June 2006, he has been an honorary fellowship of the University of Edinburgh and an adjunct professor of Guilin University of Electronic Technology, P. R. China. His current research interests include mobile propagation channel modeling, error models, smart antennas and (virtual) MIMO systems, OFDM, UWB, cognitive radio, space-time coding, cross-layer design of wireless networks, mobile ad hoc and wireless sensor networks, and 3GPP long term evolution. He has published about 70 papers in journals and conference proceedings. He received the ?999 Excellent Paper Award?for two of his papers from the sixth National Youth Communication Conference of China, Beijing, P. R. China. He serves as an Editorial Board member for Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing (WCMC) Journal and a TPC member for 14 major international conferences including IEEE VTC 2005-Fall, ICIC 2006, Globecom 2006, WCNC 2007, ICC 2007, and ICIC 2007. He also serves as Session Chair for ICCCAS 2006.
