Innovations to help seniors in place and at their own homes have gone far beyond hard-to-use and frustrating technologies. Today, there's a host of sophisticated products on the market, from ones which can the elderly retain their driving skills, to medication dispensers and robots that can help communicate with family members located far away. These technologies are expected to help care for the elderly at homes, an important strategy to harness the growing cost of healthcare in the world thanks to the ageing population. Professor Ray is a Senior Member of the Academic staff at the University of New South Wales. He is the Director of the Asia-Pacific Ubiquitous Healthcare Research Centre (APuHC) which has just been designated as a World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for eHealth. He has been working on eHealth (healthcare using ICT) for the elderly in Australia, EU and India. He will provide an overview of the type of research that they are undertaking for the aged.
