面签总结～2011.05.09 本文包括： 1.八婆版面签流程。 2.八婆加强版面签问题及建议回答 3.八婆版科哥出品study plan 另外小广告一下，做了一个关于出国的问答网站，不管是对于已经申请完的同学还是对申请结束的同学，应该都会比较有帮助。目前在内测期，短期内会上线公测并将少量邀请码放到我的校内（http://www.renren.com/profile.do?id=272640732）上，欢迎各位围观^_^。如果到时候能上去帮忙回答些问题啥的，就算是答谢我这篇八婆版面签总结吧。 --------------------------------------我是帅气的分割线------------------------- 今天签完了，小总结一下吧。其实没啥好说的，现在F1拒签率太低了，整场就没见过一个学生被拒的，只有个板着脸的大叔因为缺了啥材料，所以被拒。整场哦，300多个人哦，有木有哦亲！！！顺便说下，今天王宝强小朋友也在签，跟在我们屁股后面。我是第一次在北京见明星哦，亲！！！不过他女朋友现场观感远没网上传那么好看…远不如俺妹子就是了。需要准备的东西：（针对PHD，MS同学自行增减）学位证毕业证成绩单户口本 GRE成绩单 Toefl成绩单 admission letter offer letter I-20 签证申请费收据 I-901SEVIS收据护照照片 DS 160（电码一定要写哦，如果不明白的一定要去大使馆网站查清楚哦） program介绍两个导师的介绍 project的介绍个人简历合影买文件夹黑色签字笔注意事项打印研究/学习计划 Thesis：毕业论文样本 Emails：选了几个告诉我acceptance和offer的然后准备了40多个问题，一会附在后面。需要注意的问题： 1.一定要注意，带好水和食物，如果能约早上的就早点去，提前半小时到就可以。你约的时间************是你能进去的最早时间，你要迟到点也是可以的，跟什么时候见签证官半毛钱关系没有，所以有可能等个5个小时，比如今天我就是这待遇******* 2.手机啥的带上吧，寄存非常方便。 3.别带妹子或者男盆友了，他们在外面会等抓狂的。 4.进去以后会先去交你的DS160，注意上面要贴你交900块钱的签证费收据的第一联，就是绿色那个。如果不知道怎么贴的话，去大使馆网站详细读读。 http://chinese.usembassy-china.org.cn/niv_student.html 5.交完那个DS160，你会被分到一个组里，一个组6个人，千万注意跟紧队长，不然他甩了你你就挂了！！！你们必须一个组一起按手印，签证啥的。今天就有个同学没跟紧，然后直接挂了，在那可悲桑了…. 6.对着VO的时候，我估计都会有点紧张。答问题照简单的回答，别想啥复杂词汇，脑子里白折一片的时候你会后悔的。。。。流程： 1.到那，进了门，注意，你踏上的就是美利坚合众国的领土了。然后排队吧。一路都有指示。 2.给门口的人看DS160，确认你是那天签证，他会在一个表格上找着你的名字。 3.寄存手机。背包通过安检可以带进去。不要相信门口的“不许带包”，可以带的。。。别背个蛇皮口袋太招眼就成 4.存完进去交160表啥的，这个时候就是找队长的时候了，要千万注意。 5.按手印。外国人都非常非常和善，你按着他们说的做就行了。 6.面签。然后给你条，条后面有地图，告诉你怎么去邮局办寄送。 7.领回手机，办寄送。我以及前面后面几个被问的问题：第一个大叔：没听清楚第二个同学，首经念书的某NGO狂人，去哥大master。 VO:So you will study XXXX in Columbia? HE: yes. I will study xxxx…. VO: Have you ever been abroad? HE: yes … i've been to XXX,XXX,XXXX,XXXXX and XXXXXXXXXXX VO: ok, you are approved. HE: what? you mean I get the visa? VO: yes, enjoy your trip. HE: thank you!!!!!!（挥手状）第二个MM: VO: you are returning student? SHE: ??????? VO: I mean are you returning your school this time? SHE: no, this is my first time……（-。-） VO: （笑）OK… Have you ever been to U.S. SHE: yes… VO: ok, you pass 第三个小MM（念高中的，I20和DS160都分不清楚的小朋友） VO: Which school you will you study in? (递） VO: tell me sth about your research me: OK… I'll study computer science with an emphasis on machine learning… and my interests include personalized techniques, which can used to build personalized recommender system or personalized search engines….. VO: interesting. You are approved. but your visa needs about 3~5 days to be processed. Enjoy your life in u.s. me: you mean I get the visa? VO: yes. bye me: thank you . Bye 感想：好好准备就行了，没必要苦大仇深甚至找中介的。最坏情况基本就是check你（如果是敏感专业的话），拒的情况已经不多了。（问了下安排窗口的大叔，说现在基本不拒学生了）。 ----------------------------啦啦啦 ------------------------------- 40问，感谢北航的冀晓楠师姐，来自于她的校内: 1. What will you study in the U.S.? 说出自己将要学习的专业和学位，可以拿出提前准备好的此专业的课程表以及要上的课程，简单介绍一下，可以说跟自己以后的职业范围很相仿和接近。如果签证官顺便问你以后的职业就可以直接跳到职业规划上来回答。 2. Why do you want to study in USA? a.从美国的教育体系出发：质量高，授课方式特别，小班授课，有利于自己提高自己的能力。 b: 从美国的经济体系出发：比如商科：美国的金融、市场等体系发达，在美国能得到最latest的相关的知识和信息来丰富自己。 c：从自己的专业出发：自己心仪的这个专业在某某某大学，这个所大学又在美国什么州，所以要去美国，而且这所学校里的某某专业（自己要学习的专业）怎么怎么好。 3. Why do you choose this university? a: 从学校的特点出发：例如排名好（总体，专业），师资力量雄厚，历史悠久，气候好，地理位置好适合学习。 b：从自身的专业出发：在这所学习里，所申请的专业很适合自己，哪个教授多么多么厉害。 if possible, 这个专业提供了实习机会。 4. How do you know this school? 从主观出发：首先是从US news上知道这所学校，之后又亲自登入学校的网站查看相关专业的信息，发现很适合自己。可以在网上摘抄几句话，例如此专业的优点来衬托适合自己。从客观出发：同学或大学里的教授推荐 5. What is your major? Why do your choose it? a：从个人的爱好出发：我对此专业很感兴趣，想在这个领域有所作为 b：从这个专业特点出发：这个专业在这个学校里有什么特点，很适合我。这个专业的前景很好，利于我以后找工作等等。 c：从以往自己的专业出发：因为自己的大学就是学这个专业的，对这个专业很熟悉，有一定的知识基础，学起来更容易和自如。如果是转专业的话就不要说了。 d：从以后的职业规划出发：以后我的打算是回国做什么什么，学这个专业会对我以后的职业有帮助 Find my iob easier 6. In what aspect will you study? Why do you like your major? a：从家庭方面出发：是受父母的影响，如果父母是从事相关领域的职业的话可以说），之后开始说历史背景。 b: 从这个专业特点出发：这个专业很适合我,前景很好，利于我以后找工作等等。 c：从以后的职业规划出发：以后我的打算是回国做什么什么，学这个专业会对我以后的职业有帮助 7. How long will you study in USA? 按照I-20上的时期来说，如果要学习语言的话就把专业的时间加上大概三到六个月读语言的时间。一般研究生是1到2年的时间，如果牵扯到学习计划的话就说一下专业性的东西，比如说要学习哪些课程，课余打算做点什么，临近毕业如果有可能的话就进行实习之类的plan。 Check the I20 Study plan 8. How many universities did you apply, how about the result? 一般情况下，硕士申请是5所左右。博士申请是8所左右至于结果实话实说，如果实际上没有录取你说录取了，签证官要录信看你就傻眼了。如果别的录取的学校有奖学金的话就更要提及，以此表现钱对于你根本是不成问题的case。 5,reveived 3 AD 9. Have you any scholarship? 实话实说如果没有的话，要提及一句，虽然没有奖学金，但是谁谁谁给我准备，提供了足够的钱让我去美国读书，钱不是问题。 My parents will supports I have a strong study ability maybe I can graduate less than 2 years 10. What’s the difference between the education of China and USA? 说一下美国教育的好处就可以了，不要刻意的说中国教育哪哪不如美国。 The size of class,flexible Choose course I like 11. Why does your program start so early? a: 如果是语言的话，就说要先学习几个月语言课程，会提高自己的英语能力以便自己更能适应美国的学习环境，有信心能有一个质的飞跃。 b: 如果是先修课程的话，就说由于学校有要求必须要修完某某课程方能入学，而自己的本科没有开设这门课程。这种情况多发生在转专业的情况下。 12. Why in US? Not other countries? 跟第二题一样 13. What is the duty for the RA/TA/GA? 根据实际情况回答即可关于中国学校及个人问题 14. Do you have any hobbies? 根据实际情况说自己的爱好就可以了，弹钢琴，打篮球等等。 15. What do you do in your spare time? 跟上面的问题相同，谈谈自己的爱好就行。 16. Where are you studying now? How about your academic background? 主要就是说一下目前就读的学校，专业，年级等。如果有机会的话，还可以简单介绍一下自己所学的主要专业课程，或总结一下自己学到的知识等。如果已经毕业的话，就说一下最近的学习背景：就读学校，所学专业，学位，毕业时间等。 BUAA SOFTWARE COLLEGE, SENIOR STUDENTS 17. Do you have any English test? 有TOEFL 成绩的就可以直说，一般申请研究生或PhD的都有TOEFL 或雅思成绩。如果TOEFL 或 IELTS成绩不够，要去读语言的话，也要说明情况，在这里也可以表一下决心，表明自己会尽快通过学校的语言的测试。 I took it… I will practice… 18. How will you celebrate your graduation from university? 可以说会出去旅游或者其他，合理即可。 19. What’s your favorite course? Why/What did you learn from it? 一般按实际情况说就可以了。如果这个课程跟自己申请的专业有关就更好了，说的时候还可以顺便说一下自己很希望将来研究生阶段能这一方面有更深入和全面的学习。点到即止。 Computer network 20. What is the difficult course for you? Why? 可以根据实际情况去说，但最好是跟自己申请的专业无关的一门课程。 history 21. Why not continue your study in China? 不要说中国的不好，主要说为什么去美国学习就可以了。这个问题按由点及面的思路来谈，先说最细的原因，比如说这个专业甚至其中的课程如何如何，然后在说宽的，如学校的优势，最后才说美国如何如何。不要太泛泛而论。当然，如果有特别独到的理由就更好了。 Cs Course flexible 关于将来计划等 22. What is your plan? What will you do after graduation? 此题包括study plan 和回国计划，其中回国计划为重，可以从short term & long term两方面说，一定不能说到任何有关在美国继续呆的打算的话语。 General 回答的框架 Long term:5到10年以内的目标梦想（例如创业）open up my own company Short term:2到5年以内的回国打算（例如将在某公司做什么职位）big company of my uncle be a technicon 其中要穿插着例子，可以举某些公司为例（2到3个），之后解释可行性，直接对长期目标进行论证。最好要有实例，有说服力。 23. If your want to set up your own company, what kind of help do your parents can give you? 如果父母是自主创业的话当然好说，就是专业知识，经验上可以给予自己很大的帮助，使自己少走许多弯路，另外money方面更是不成问题。启动资金人际经验 24. Will you pursue your PHD degree in USA? 一般答 NO Master degree is enough,,,I want to save time… 25. What's the difference between your major now and the major in USA? Why do you change your major? 如果你大学也是学所申的专业之类的就可以说自己对这个专业很爱好，可以从此专业有什么好处入手回答。如果转了专业就可以从一下入手：A 否定之前所学（不适合自己，并非否定这个专业），肯定将来要学。B 以前学的对以后所学有补充作用。C 当时高考选专业时的种种无奈，没有选择自己所爱。D 但是在大学期间任何渐渐对所申专业产生了强烈的爱好。 almost the same 关于家庭问题 26. Who will you support your study? 没有奖学金的话：就说是父母资助的，然后谈一下准备了多少钱（存款证明），父母的任职情况及年收入（先说收入更高的），按照收入证明上的内容来说。有奖学金的情况：全奖的话就按具体情况说好了，是TA 或者RA，或者减免学费之类的。如果是给了部分奖学金的话，就先说学校给了多少奖，然后在说家里会提供剩下的资金支持，谈谈父母的收入情况。思路跟之前的差不多。 27. How much money will you spend for your study? I-20上有，如果是读两年的话就乘以二。然后可以像前面那个问题一样说一下资金支持情况，说明自己有足够的钱来支付在美国的学习费用。（假如前面的问题已经回答过了，在这里就不要太细说了，大概说一下即可） 28. What do your parents do? 跟前面的差不多，先说收入多的一方；如果有一方开公司的，就先说开公司的一方的情况。一定要记得出示相关的材料。 29. How about your parents’ income? 也跟之前的差不多，但是除了说收入钱，也要说一下其工作单位和职务。 30. Can you introduce your father’s company?(how many people, registered capital, time of setting up) 可以说一下这个公司是什么时候成立的，主要的业务是什么。然后介绍一下公司的规模，有多少职工，注册资本是多少。如果有公司介绍彩页或其他能说明公司状况的材料的话，就顺便递给签证官看。 31. When your parents will retire? 一般是没有退休，所以说事实就可以了。如果真有退休的一方或双方，根据收入证明上的来说即可。因为这种情况会在开始的时候就设定好了思路去准备收入证明。 32. How many children in your family? What do they do? 如无特殊情况就照实说。如果有特殊情况，如：有兄弟姐妹已经出国或准备出国等，一定要跟你的顾问提出来，由他们来判断你的说辞是否会有影响。其他 33. If you didn’t get the visa, what can you do? a.表明信心并符合条件，同时希望得到你的鼓励去美国 b.目标明确-去学习，非常珍惜这个机会 c.材料准备充分。 d.如果不给，再来 I think I can,I have prepared it for a long time,I hope you can help me. Who is the person in the DS158, what do they do? 宗旨: 1.对所填人信息基本了解，2.真实存在，3. 不是亲戚，4.首选国内联系人。 37. What is the challenge when you study in the US? 可以从以下方面说： a.文化差异 adapt to the culture, I will finial do it b.社会文化 c.校园文化：教学方式;与同学老师的关系的处理。语言的短时过度自己的独立生活的能力：如自制，自立能力等 38. Your parents are doctors, why do you want to study business? 主体思想： 1. 他们是他们，我是我。2. 兴趣使然3. 职业规划 39. 如果学习不连贯，要解释这段时间做什么了。What do you do for the half a year? a. What is the influence on your daily life? 宗旨：说一些无关痛痒的话。不要太极端，思想健康向上，自由发挥奥运会：非常骄傲，做过志愿者（如果有）。让更多的人认识中国，了解北京；给中国带来机遇和挑战。因为奥运，交通变好了。因为奥运，空气变好了。因为奥运，更爱运动了。英语变好了。金融危机：相信政府，会顺利度过。乐观面对。居安思危和对资金的预算意识 ---------------------------------------我是八婆的分割线-------------------------------- Study and Career Plan Introduction of My Background I'll receive my bachelor’s degree this July from Bei Hang University. My undergraduate study in Bei Hang University led me to the fantastic world of software, and my experience of working as a researcher assistant assured me that I would like to explore the cutting edge technologies of computer science, especially to help people deal with problems coming along with the information explosion by developing personalization techniques. I built a recommender system module for news browsers on Sohu.com by applying methods I learnt from research papers. That system can recommend news to users with high probability that they might like. I gradually found in the process that my interest and passion is to use knowledge of computer science to build real and cool algorithms and combine them with real online applications, like the one I built for Sohu.com. My Career Objective There are more than 120 million users who use Internet frequently, and the market is huge compared to other countries. My ultimate intention after receiving my Ph.D. degree is to grasp this great opportunity to establish my own company, with the technologies I gained in Rutgers. Before that, I would like to work for Microsoft Research Asia, Baidu, or Google China as an engineer or research scientist in order to gain first hand experience of managing and building the most advanced Internet product which can properly fit the needs of Chinese users. Why Rutgers First of all, my interests match with my mentor well. We both believe that only search engine is not enough, and we are planning to build personalized search engine to help people locate their information needs more precisely. Also, his experience as co-founder of ASK.com assures me that he is an experienced expert who knows how to use algorithms in academia to build real and big online service for users in industry. Second, Rutgers is a great University in U.S., especially in the field of Computer Science. In the past few months, I began working with my mentor remotely, and found that resources at Rutgers are abundant. For example, Super-Computers and computer clusters are accessible by students and even without time limit. Last but not least, the environment at New Brunswick is fantastic. It is not as a big city as New York or Chicago, but its peace is suitable for long time reading for me. I am sure with the good environement and enough scholarship, I can successfully earn my degree and come back to China to chase my dream.
