The 1st International ICST Workshop on Cognitive Collaborative Communications in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks August 16, 2011 - Harbin, China The 1st International ICST Workshop on Cognitive Collaborative Communication in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks (C3HetNet 2011) will be held in conjunction with CHINACOM 2011 in Harbin, China, August 16, 2011. Accepted and presented papers will be included in the CHINACOM conference Proceedings and IEEE Xplore, and be indexed by Engineering Index (EI). Currently wireless communications have been severely limited by the heterogeneity of wireless networks, which causes that the transmission capacity and end-to-end performance for the wireless systems cannot be improved fundamentally. In recent years the concept of cognition and collaboration have been studied and discussed from both academia and industrial communities. Cognitive radio (CR) is a promising technology that will enable the next generation intelligent wireless communications. CR technology enables the development of an intelligent and adaptive wireless communication systems that are able to work in an environment aware manner. Different from conventional point-to-point communications, cooperative communications and networking allows different users or nodes in a wireless network to share resources to create collaboration through distributed transmission/processing, in which each user's information is sent out not only by the user, but also by collaborating users. Collaborative communications and networking is a new communication paradigm promising significant capacity and multiplexing gain increase in wireless networks. Cognitive radio and collaborative communication networks may be integrated together and work jointly in heterogeneous wireless networks. They represent a new paradigm which involves the innovations in both smart radio transmission and distributed signal processing techniques, promising a significant increase of overall capacity in futuristic wireless networks. This workshop will showcase both theoretical and application research results on cognitive collaborative communications in heterogeneous wireless networks, serving as an excellent venue for worldwide leading experts to share their state-of-the-art advancements in this fast-growing research area. . Topics of Interest We are seeking papers that present original and unpublished contributions addressing various aspects of cognitive collaborative communications in heterogeneous wireless networks, including innovative concepts, fundamental theories, empirical studies, application and case studies, practical methodologies, literature surveys, and research reviews. Specific topics of the conference include (but not limited to): l Information theory for cognitive radio l Multiple access schemes for cognitive radio l Resource management in cognitive radio networks l Spectrum sensing mechanisms and protocol support l Spectrum sharing/trading in cognitive radio networks l Efficient multi-band multi-resolution channel sensing algorithms l Synchronization and channel estimation for cognitive radio l Pricing for spectrum sharing in cognitive radio l QoS provisioning in cognitive radio networks l Cooperation and game theory for cognitive ratio networks l Demonstrations, proof-of-concept of reconfigurable and cognitive radios l Cross-layer optimization of cognitive radio wireless networks l Radio resource allocation in cooperative networks l Multiple antenna techniques in cooperative networks Any other papers related to cognitive radio, as well as collaborative communication technique in wireless networks are all welcome. Important Dates Submission due Apr. 20, 2011 Notification date May 30, 2011 Camera-ready due Jun. 15, 2011 Registration due Jul. 1, 2011 Workshop dates Aug. 16, 2011 详细情况请参见:http://www.chinacom.org/2011/C3HetNet2011/index.shtml
