It has gained a world-wide reputation for its leading edge research and top quality programmes. Among its 23 faculty members, there are 7 IEEE Fellows, the highest percentage among all engineering departments in Hong Kong and Mainland China. The Master of Science in Information Engineering program was established in 1997, aiming at offering an all-round taught-postgraduate programme to develop information and communication technology leaders. MScIE is structured to provide both fundamental courses that give background training in technology, and elective course that develop students’ specialties. Specialized areas include: network and communication, business and management, and software and application. The study experience in MScIE is further enriched with diverse activities including seminars, workshops, and community events. We also offer students research training experience through a research course (optional), where students can work with faculty members on a research project, making us the only taught master programme in Hong Kong to offer students an opportunity to take such research courses. Students are awarded the Master of Science degree by taking a minimum of eight courses within one year of study.
