Growing up in China we have the common goal before getting into universities, working hard for good grades. Our parents and teachers keep telling us: "Effort will be paid off."
While after years of independent living and thinking, you may agree with this line:
Choice is more important than effort
Tonight's dicussion is not about the line's correctness. Just share with us your stories about "effort and choice". Let's review our past and collect our thoughts. I'm sure you would get something, either from yourself or others.
1. Did you choose your university and major yourself? How do you evaluate this choice? What if there is an "if...".
2. Share with us a story about "Choice is more important than effort".
3. What are the choices of your career / city of residence / partner ...? Is the choice coming from your own thinking? How will/did you defend and practice your choices?
