It ranks the 14th in the 2018 edition of U.S. News National Universities. The graduate program of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice ranks the 17th in 2018 edition of U.S. News Best Graduate Programs. Efficient and Intelligent Computing (EIC) Lab Dr. Lin’s group focuses on developing energy-efficient machine learning systems with algorithm and hardware co-design innovations to be deployed in mobiles and wearables. Her group publishes papers in top-tier conferences, such as ICML, NIPS workshop, MobiSys, ISCAS, etc. Please check her webpage for details. She has extensive collaborations with industry (Qualcomm, IBM, HP Labs, Motorola Solutions, Rebellion Photonics, etc), which will provide various opportunities for internship in these groups. In addition, her group is in active collaboration with renowned academic research groups (Dr. Yuan Xie at UCSB, Dr. Zhangyang (Atlas) Wang at TA&MU, Dr. Richard Baraniuk at Rice, etc), which will offer you many opportunities to perform collaborative research. Multiple Ph.D. Position Openings I am actively looking for self-motivated students (with financial aid) who are interested in pursuing Ph.D. degrees in machine learning for resource-constrained platforms and novel applications such as intelligent vision sensors, smart cities and healthcare. Students with a physics or bioengineering background are also welcome due to the interdisciplinary nature of our projects. Also, self-funded visiting students/scholars are welcome to apply.
