In conventional hard disk systems, the write process is thought to be error-free. This is not the case in patterned media and in the first part of this talk; an information theoretic model is introduced to model the write errors. This model then is used to estimate the rate of an error-correcting code required to correct these errors. The second half of the talk is concerned with a coding scheme that allows one to rewrite pages in a flash memory system without erasing. 主讲人简介： Jack wolf： UCSD professor VP Technology, Qualcomm.
