内容简介:
The next generation power grid, known as the smart grid, is theintegration of information and communications technologies into the electrical power grid to improve control, efficiency, reliability and safety forenergy generation, transmission, distribution and consumption.A key component of the smart grid is a flexible and intelligentcommunications infrastructure that provides utilities with remoteaccess andcontrol of the grid components, including real-time sensing and measurement.Wireless technologies will play an important role in smart gridcommunications because of their low installation costs, simpledeployment, and ease of connection to provide access throughout the power grid.In this presentation, the application of radio over fiber (RoF) basedwireless communications for smart metering and power distribution willbe introduced.A RoF based network has the potential to enhance both the coverage andspectral efficiency of smart grid wireless networks sinceits major benefit is the effectiveness in adapting to temporal andspatial traffic variations.A clustered architecture will be considered which provides signaldiversity to enhance the coverage and capacity of smart gridcommunications. The improvement in coverage and latency of a smart grid RoF networkover a conventional wireless network will be illustrated.
