Special Track on Software Platforms (SP)
This track aims to share research results and experiences in Software Platforms field with researchers and developers. The software platforms are in a constant state of change with new devices and technologies introduced almost every day. As a result, software platform developers and researchers continue to evolve software technologies that are used for increasing mobile conversions and enhancing relationships among users. The structure of software systems involves working with a wide variety of software platforms and technologies from embedded devices and smart-phones on the low end, to enterprise and distributed systems on the high end. Many research questions remain open from limited battery to remote access control, interaction with external devices, assurance in quality of service, context-aware adaptation to the environment, interface modeling or other issues (security and privacy problems) that are obstacles to thrive software platform technologies. This track will address all of these research issues related to software platforms.
Major topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
o Convergence Technologies for Embedded Systems
o Enhanced Services for Smart Environments
o Software Platforms in Smart Environments
o Software platforms for Mobile and Handheld Devices
o Software Framework for Mobile Commerce
o Mobile Platform and Mobile Applications
o Web platforms and Web Applications
o Embedded System Application Framework
o Location Based Services and Device Tracking
o Interacting with External Devices
o Mobile Remote Access Infrastructure
o Battery Monitoring and Energy Saving Algorithm
o Information and Services
o Communication Software and Network Protocols
o Software Platforms in Cloud Computing
o Operating Systems for Mobile Platforms
o Security of Software Platforms and Devices
o Privacy Protection
o Performance-Oriented Design and Evaluation
o Application Testing and Quality Assurance
o Test-bed Implementations and Results
o Paper Submission
Authors are invited to submit original papers in all areas of experimental computing and application development for the technical program via the Software Platforms track hosted by SAC 2015. Submissions fall into the following categories:
o Original and unpublished research work
o Reports of innovative computing applications in the arts, sciences, engineering, and business areas
o Reports of successful technology transfer to new problem domains
o Reports of industrial experience and demos of new innovative systems
The file format should be in PDF. The author(s) name(s) and address(es) must not appear in the body of the paper, and self-reference should be in the third person. All papers will be fully refereed and undergo a double blind review process by at least three referees.
Prospective papers should be submitted to the track using the START submission system. Submission of the same paper to multiple tracks is not allowed. For more information please visit SAC 2015 Website.

o Student Research Competition Program
The Student Research Competition (SRC) program, sponsored by Microsoft Research, is a newly added program to the ACM SIGAPP Symposium on Applied Computing (SAC). The SAC 2014 SRC program provides graduate students the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with researchers and practitioners in their areas of interest. Active graduate students seeking feedback from the scientific community on their research ideas are invited to submit abstracts of their original unpublished and in-progress research work in areas of experimental computing and application development related to SAC 2015 Tracks. Please visit SAC 2015 Website.
This program is open for graduate students currently enrolled in University or College and have active ACM and SIGAPP student membership. Abstracts must be authored by students only. Faculty advisor(s) cannot be listed as authors on the submission or on the final poster presentation. No group projects are allowed. The work must not be submitted to any another SRC program, journal or conference while it is under consideration for SAC 2015 SRC Program.
Student research abstracts must be submitted to their respective SAC tracks (in this case, the MCA track) through the START Submission system. The abstracts are reviewed by reviewers who review paper submissions to that track. The Track Chairs (TCs) manage the review process. Upon the review results, The SRC Chair and Program Committee select the best 15 abstracts and invite their authors to participate in SAC 2015.
If you encounter any problems with your submission, please contact the Program Coordinator:
John Kim SAC 2015 SRC Coordinator editoracr@gmail.com
o Requirements
Paper registration is required, allowing the inclusion of the paper/poster in the conference proceedings. An author or a proxy attending SAC MUST present the paper. This is a requirement for the paper/poster to be included in the ACM/IEEE digital library. No-show of scheduled papers and posters will result in excluding them from the ACM/IEEE digital library.
